| I bought one of these for each of my 3 daughters. They have been heavily used for the past 5 months. They take them everywhere. No complaints whatsoever. I love the dual monitor function. You have to pay extra to get that at dell. I thought they would miss having a dvd drive, but todays' kids only need a usb port for their jumpdrives. Daemon Lite (freeware) is what they use to put on software (ISOs). |

| I own a blue Samsung net-book and my wife loved it so much, I purchased a pink one for her for her birthday. We received it yesterday, plugged it in and she absolutely loves it! I have had mine for over a year and I love it as well. Great product...my only gripe is that the pink model is quite a bit more money than the other colors. |
Excellent!!!

Great But Missing A Few Things

I originally bought this for my wife. She always complains about my 15" Thinkpad T series especially if we go on vacation. It's just way too big and too heavy so given the numerous reviews and the fact she likes pink, I sprung for one. First thing I did was double the memory as suggested by virtually every power user out there. Memory is cheap so it was a no brainer. Then I picked up an external mouse. I can't live without one. I also picked up an external portable burner (the ones that runs on 2 USB ports) otherwise you can't install anything off discs including using one of my 3 user licenses of virus protection.
So got home, installed the memory, removed the installed virus scanner and installed my own, downloaded winzip, textpad, etc etc.
Pros:
- Despite it's size, it's pretty powerful and fast especially without all the other junk that I have on my Thinkpad.
- Camera added with built in microphone is great for web chatting
- keyboard is almost full sized so no cramping there
- ~$500 or so for everything. Not bad considering my Thinkpad is over $1500 (well ok it's got way more power and way more functionality)
- built in wireless
- Doesn't come installed with a bunch of useless software like you get with Dells, HP, Vaio, etc
- Wow... video out on something this small?
Cons:
- The mousepad has a scroller on it. I'm not used to it so I keep hitting it trying to use the mouse.
- Screen doesn't have a very high resolution. If you try to install something that uses more screen than what fits, you're screwed or you have to understand how to use hot keys.... which most don't.
- No optical drive. I know it slows the machine down. I know it reduces battery life. I know it makes it heavier. I know virtually no netbook has one but seriously it needs one. It makes life better. Imagine using it as a DVD player on long trips. Imagine installing software without having to buy an external drive. With the invention of thinner flat screens using less power and generating less heat, I say someone's got to include one. It's also kind of weird they have a VGA out especially if it doesn't have an optical drive.
Overall, it's not a desktop replacement by far. It's not even great for old people. It's great for mid level computer users that wants a portable system for trips or a great second web surfing computer that is very portable. It's also great for kids (well assuming they are old enough to treat laptops with respect) for note taking and entertainment. |

| I bought this netbook for school less than a month ago. It is pretty good and the battery life lasts long. I like the color, size, and the touch pad is also very sensitive. The keypad is also very easy to type unlike my old one that has a really small keypad. I am very satisfied with this purchase except for one thing: the description says the battery life is 6 hours, but my netbook almost overheated in less than 5 hours. It is probably no difference from a 3 cell battery. |
