It’s rare to find a netbook with everything you need, yet leaves you enough for a latte at your favorite hot spot. The value-laden Samsung N130 netbook features an Intel Atom N270 processor, comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home SP3 and features a matte white finish. A non-glossy 10.1-Inch screen gives you plenty of room to IM, adjust your playlist, and speed through your favorite applications. The 160GB HDD gives you space, while the built-in 0.3 MP webcam makes video chats easy. And the N130 weighs just 2.7 lbs., so it’s light enough to hit the road whenever you’re ready.

No professional review from me even though I appreciate them very much.I am very pleased with this netbook! Very nice looking matte exterior, built in router, comes with one year trial of office 2007, webcam, bought it about a month ago and I just love it. The keyboard may be an issue for some, I can live with it but some may have a problem with it and the battery, well, not quite 6 hours, quite a bit less, maybe I need to figure out how to tweak things to conserve the battery a bit. But great colors, viewing, I stream without much problem for the first time, and while this isnt important the netbook comes with what I call its own little lullaby, it literally sings itself to sleep :)! For the price I say go for it, it's a bargain!

I bought this for my 24 yr old daughter for Christmas. Although she nor I are technical guru's (so I can't review on the technology within), for the casual web surfing and e-mailing - it is a great netbook. The color is a very pale pink which I was not sure she would like, but she absolutely loves it. It is very girly which keeps her husband from touching it. I bought this particular netbook because of the ratings from Consumer Reports - it was the most affordable Samsung in my price range.

The keyboard is great, not too small at all, very comfortable to use. The battery lasts a long time. The trackpad works beautifully (better than my Mac Pro). The display is bright and clear. This is not a work laptop and doesn't claim to be, so I don't think it is fair to complain about it not doing things it wasn't intended for. I use it for a diary and it is absolutely perfect. My husband is taking it on a flight to Germany. He'll use it to work on his book. He decided to use this instead of his laptop because of the small form factor which will fit better on the airplane and extra battery life. I think some people complained (in reviews that are spread among all the colors) that it didn't come with Windows 7 (mine came with XP). I don't see that as a drawback at all, and seriously, if you are the kind of person who actually understands how to exercise an operating system to the extent that you can perceive a deficiency -- don't buy a pretty pink netbook.

I have been using this computer for about a month and have been extremely pleased with it. The only thing that i am able to complain about is the keyboard. For me it is very hard to get used to. But with time just maybe i will. Everything else is perfect. I have the XP operating system and am please with how it works and the speed of it. The packing and delivery from Amazon was excellent. Much better than i have excepted. Customer service from Samsung was great. The price of the net book from Amazon was acceptable and their service was very good, as always. I would recommend this product and Amazon to all.
Excellent except for odd key layout

I had the black version of this exact model.
Liked the matte finish - most netbooks have shiny frame around screen and often shiny plastic around keyboard and fingerprint-attracting exterior. Liked the low fan noise - some netbooks are like a miniature chainsaw in a quiet room. The keys have nice feel and have good tactile feedback.
Had to return it to store because I couldn't type reliably on the keyboard.
The small key size wasn't the issue.
Problem was that I kept hitting the "=" key instead of the Backspace key.
I compared it side-by-side with other netbooks in the store and discovered that - in order to make the keys very slightly larger than the keys on other netbooks - Samsung made some of the keys a lot smaller, including the Backspace key.
With standard keyboards - and most netbooks - the left edge of the backspace key is centered above the "}]" key.
On this machine, the Backspace key is not centered, it is quite a bit over to the right. The keys in the top row of the keyboard are not centered over the next row down - as with most netbooks, notebooks, and full-size keyboards.
Same issue with other normally big keys - but the Backspace key was the big problem for me.
If you don't use the backspace key, or if you use only this netbook and not other keyboards (so you don't have to switch keyboards all the time) - then this is a fine unit. |
